New platform will provide actionable data to pharmacies

As part of our ongoing effort to improve medicine adherence and patient safety, we’re adding a new system for better sharing drug-related performance metrics with community pharmacies. We’re implementing the Electronic Quality Improvement Platform for Plans and Pharmacies (EQuIPP), which makes it easy to track performance against Medicare Part D Star rating measures.

EQuIPP will aggregate de-identified data from the Medicare and Medicaid plans we serve to provide benchmarks of key measures tracked for Star ratings:

  • High-risk medicine use
  • Appropriate high blood pressure treatment for members with diabetes
  • Adherence to oral diabetes, cholesterol and high blood pressure medicines

The benchmark data we share through EQuIPP will represent more than 1 million Medicare and more than 500,000 Medicaid members.

We’ll be able to share the benchmark data with community pharmacies via user-friendly dashboards. The added information should empower pharmacies to make further improvements that help Medicare and Medicaid members get the medicine they need.
